Ward’s Grill

In the late 1950′s Roy Ward and his eldest son, Jack, convinced Lola Thompson Ward to add the grill to Thompson’s Store.  Since that time many a homemade sausage biscuit and chili cheeseburger have been served to the residents and visitors of Saluda.  For many years, the grill has been the town’s central gathering place for locals and tourists alike.  The friendliness is legendary while the warmth and camaraderie makes even the first-time visit a memorable occasion.

Entering Ward’s Grill is like taking a step back in time. The authentic atmosphere conveys a feeling of true 1950′s charm, and our delicious foods get excellent reviews from customers on a regular basis.

Some of our more popular, unique items include homemade cornbread salad and potato salad, chicken salad and tuna salad, and coleslaw.  The CJ Burger is a legendary combination of ground beef and Charlie’s sage-flavored sausage.  For dessert, be sure to try our spoon-thick handspun milkshakes and a delicious variety of seasonal cobblers, pies, and cakes.

Once in Saluda, we decided to have lunch at Ward’s and even though they were real busy, we enjoyed a great experience. Once inside, we were promptly seated and enjoyed a great lunch. The staff is very friendly, the food was great, and there was very minimal wait time for our food, considering how busy they were. If you’re ever in Saluda, say hello to the great people at Ward’s.
